Modernizing how the Government of Alberta delivers vehicle services to Albertans
Served as the lead designer for GoA's Motor Vehicle Modernization initiative. Over a multi-year engagement, I collaborated closely with Motor Vehicle program areas, business stakeholders, and product teams, to deliver accessible interfaces, replacing aging legacy tools and systems.

Motor Vehicle Modernization
The Government of Alberta's motor vehicle registry platform enables registry agents to process services for citizens across the province. On any given day, an agent might use the system to handle a vehicle registration, issue a permit, pull a driver record, and process a title transfer, all with a citizen waiting at the counter.
Challenge. The existing platforms had a solid foundation but the design hadn't kept pace. Usability issues were spread across the system, inconsistent patterns, poor feedback states, and accessibility gaps, and a separate need existed to eliminate a manual, fax-based process for requests that was slow, error-prone, and carried real security risks.
Approach. I conducted a heuristic evaluation of the registry platform, documented and prioritized usability issues by user impact, and redesigned the interfaces. In parallel, I designed the Court Certificate Request Portal, a structured online intake tool built to replace fax and email submissions.
Outcome. Built on the Government of Alberta digital design standards, the redesigned platforms bring consistency, accessibility, and best practices to every service and transaction flow used by agents across the province.

Court Certificate Request Portal
A court certificate is an official document that confirms vehicle information as of a specific date and time of an incident on the road. Previously, RCMP, police agencies, and Crown Prosecutors would send requests by fax or email in an unstructured, inconsistently formatted manner that required heavy manual processing by Government of Alberta staff.
I led the launch of a streamlined intake portal that lets organizations submit requests that get processed by Government staff systematically. Since launching late 2025, thousands of requests have been processed through the portal; and users have reported a significant reduction in processing time and manual error.
